Asquith Properties - High rise result for Bradford

In the same week that the first phase of Bradford’s landmark residential development, The Gatehaus, is released for occupancy, developer Asquith Properties announces its next prestigious project - ‘Citygate’ - a £150million, mixed used scheme, situated on Manchester Road in Bradford City Centre.
Plans for Citygate include an impressive 38-storey high glass tower, which will transform the City’s skyline, creating the tallest building in Bradford. The plans have recently been approved by the Bradford Trident board, a community led organisation working to regenerate the City.
The planning application for Citygate has now been submitted to Bradford Council’s planning department and the process should be complete within the next 12 weeks. Subject to approval, work should begin on site later this year.
The development, totalling over 21,000m2 in size, comprises 729 residential units of which the majority will be luxury apartments with a small amount of town houses. It will also include a 116-bedroom hotel with conference facilities capable of accommodating up to 1,000 people. Two of the 38 storeys will be retail levels and the grounds will include two basement parking levels and two beautifully landscaped private courtyards.
The stunning buildings have been designed by Glen Howells Architects, which is well known in the North for developments that push the boundaries of contemporary building design. This is the fourth project that the company has designed for Asquith Properties.
Asquith Properties’ Chairman, Russell Baker, said, “Citygate will set the standard for modern luxury living for the people of Bradford. It’s great news that our plans have been accepted by Trident and that the planning application has been submitted. It means that we are well on the road to developing another incredible, contemporary building, with breathtaking views across Bradford.”
Bradford Trident’s Housing Project Manager, Wayne Noteman, commented, “Citygate is a flagship scheme for the City and local communities will be transformed as a result. We are delighted with the proposed development and pleased to be working with Asquith.”
Asquith’s current development, The Gatehaus, is well on the way to completion, with two further phases due to be released over the coming year. Presently all apartments are sold, but there may be further opportunities to purchase from investors after release. Apartments are available for rental through Smart Moves Group in Bradford.
As an illustration of Asquith’s commitment to the regeneration of Bradford, the developer sponsored last week’s launch of the Bradford Property Forum, a group of Bradford’s top business leaders who have come together to provide a unified voice on property and planning for the City’s future.
