iLevel Trus Joist - 220 TJI® joists grow in popularity
An exclusive residential development in
Cheshire has become one of the first of a growing number to
utilise the recently launched iLevel™ Trus Joist® 220 TJI® joist
series, which offer all the benefits of an engineered joist
system without having to change building plans designed for
solid sawn timber.
Beech Farm developed by Wilfred Lloyd & Associates, the
Construction arm of Orford Investments Limited, is set in the
rural location of Croft, near Warrington. It consists of a
four-bedroom detached and four three-bedroom mews properties,
all of which are finished to a high standard of specification.
The decision to use 220 TJI® joists, supplied by the Chorley
branch of iLevel™ Service Partner, Palgrave Brown, rather than
solid sawn timber came from the architect for the project, PAB
Architects in consultation with the developer. Jim Hunter of PAB
Architects commented: “We have used TJI® joists on other
projects including work for local authority schools.
“Compared to solid sawn timber not only do they give us a
high-quality, squeak-free floor, an engineered wood floor system
is more sustainable because it uses less material.
“Furthermore, the joists allow us to work with greater spans and
so give us a greater degree of flexibility in the final design.”
