Cundall Johnston & Partners LLP - Risk based design: Logic or Lottery?
Cundall Fire Engineering to host seminar
in conjunction with Pilkington.
Cundall are to host a Fire Engineering seminar ‘Risk Based
Design: Logic or Lottery?’ on Wednesday 16 May from 6.00pm to
8.00pm at Lloyds of London.
Aimed at architects, and other professionals from the insurance
and building contractors sectors, this seminar will look at the
issues surrounding risk-based design, including:
• Are we over designing
buildings?
• Can we further reduce the
fire protection and compartmentation?
• Do we have confidence that
our buildings could withstand an extreme event such as 9/11, and
should we expect them to?
• How comfortable are we
with this risk-based approach?
• How does the insurance
industry view these developments?
• Do premiums take account
of the level of risk, or do they assume the worst? How far can
we push the boundaries of design?
Delegates will hear from a range of industry experts – Steven
Cooper, Director, Cundall Fire Engineering; Mike Wood, Global
Consultant, Pilkington; Iain Cox, Chairman, Chief Fire Officers
Association; and Andrew Deas, Director, AON Risk Control
Consultants, AON Ltd. The seminar will be introduced by David
Dryden, Managing Partner, Cundall.
The cost of attending is £80 plus VAT per delegate, and all
proceeds will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital
Children’s Charity.
Places are limited and due to security must be booked in
advance by Friday 4 May.
