British Gypsum first in the ‘Q’
British Gypsum has become the first
internal linings supplier to be awarded the prestigious Q-Mark,
the UK Timber Frame Association’s new quality assurance scheme
for suppliers to the timber frame industry.
The Q-Mark, set to become a mandatory requirement for all
suppliers to UKTFA timber frame manufacturers, provides
certification that holders operate to recognised quality and
environmental standards, have demonstrated excellence in Health
and Safety, and have products and systems that comply fully with
Building Regulation requirements and British/European Standards.
The Q-Mark scheme has been introduced to increase confidence
throughout the timber frame industry and its customers, at a
time when the timber frame market is growing strongly.
Incorporation of suppliers, like British Gypsum, is the final
stage of integration for the scheme, which now includes every
aspect of the business, from initial design through to erection
on site.
Matthew Scott, British Gypsum’s Residential Market Development
Manager, believes that the award comes at a crucial time, as the
company is expanding into the residential offsite manufacturing
market through its new Glasroc Rigidur H gypsum fibre board
product. “Fabricators and other timber frame companies will now
be assured when they see the Q-Mark on our literature, that we
meet key criteria like ISO 9000: 2000 quality management, are
pursuing ISO 14001 environmental management standards, and that
our products meet the performance standards they require”.
