WS Atkins plc - Peter proves valuable asset to Atkins
The structural team at multidiscipline consultancy Atkins has
been boosted with the strategic appointment of structural
engineer, Peter Hirst.
Bringing over 30 years experience of projects in the airports,
education, defence and commercial sectors, Peter joins as Head
of Structures for the Midlands.
He will be based in Atkins’ Birmingham office and has a remit
which will extend to cover the Nottingham area.
Having built up an enviable reputation in the sector, Peter’s
new role sees him further building the Atkins structural team in
the Birmingham and Nottingham offices, securing new business
from existing and new clients and managing the delivery of
projects.
Peter said: “My appointment is part of Atkins’ strategic
expansion plans in the Midlands and will provide a new impetus
to the business by building upon the expertise of the existing
building structures team, further growing this area and helping
to secure new commissions.
“There is massive potential for Atkins within the West and East
Midlands markets and it is testimony to this that the team has
more than doubled in the short time since I have joined the
company.”
Currently working on a new Diabetes Unit for Heartlands Hospital
and a £265 million PFI Hospital in Nottinghamshire, Peter is
also anticipating a significant increase in workload during
2007. Future projects will include work on design of stations
for the Dubai Metro, a large housing development in Telford and
schools for Derbyshire County Council.
