The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is on a red oak mission in Europe
According to European Director, David Venables, “we have
always believed that red oak has a major role to play in the
European hardwood market. With so much focus on oak and a need
for more sustainable hardwood supplies, there is a real
opportunity for red oak to find new markets.”
As part of a specially focused campaign to promote and market
red oak, AHEC is returning to Interzum after a 6 year break with
a 150m2 Red Oak Pavilion.
AHEC are no strangers to creative marketing and the current
message “Americas best kept secret” features a hand carved
imaginary alien in red oak. The alien carving will be on display
at Interzum together with a new red oak furniture collection
from Riva, designed by Terry Dwan, and previewed earlier this
year at the Cologne furniture fair.
The objective of the pavilion will be to provide a platform for
the US hardwood industry to communicate the potential of red
oak. Industry experts will be available to answer questions and
assist potential buyers. In addition, NHLA grading expert Bob
Sabistina, will be running mini lumber grading workshops each
day on stand.
Any company looking to expand its temperate hardwood business is
encouraged to consider this abundant and sustainable timber.
