Polyflor Ltd - School creates hall of Mystique
The refurbishment of the main hall at Sir William Burrough
School in Limehouse, London, features the school’s own vibrantly
coloured floor design, incorporating a variety of shades from
the Polyflor Mystique PUR range of low maintenance heavy duty
sheet vinyl floor coverings.
Central to the design is the school’s three dimensional “star”
logo - produced in black and white shades from the Polyflor
Standard XL range, encircled with Mystique PUR Azurite - and
eight other colours from the Mystique PUR palette radiate
outwards from this in two repeats to create an eye-catching
rainbow effect.
The design was recreated via the Polyflor Expressions Design
Service - which uses computerised water jet cutting techniques
to create precise shapes and styles for inlaid decoration - and
was installed by flooring contractor D. J. Bagot Flooring, of
Wood Green, London.
“The bold, bright colours in the Mystique range lent themselves
perfectly to our design concept,” says the school’s facilities
manager Neil Smith. “And the product’s polish-free low
maintenance and high performance characteristics are essential
for such a heavily trafficked area of the school.”
Non-directionally patterned Polyflor Mystique PUR is available
in 16 decorative shades and features a high quality polyurethane
reinforcement which, combined with a superior closed surface
finish, facilitates a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime
for the lifetime of the flooring, achieving savings of up to 48%
compared with untreated vinyl flooring.
In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyls, Polyflor Mystique PUR
can be welded at the seams and to coved skirting to create
continuous, impervious surfaces that offer no sanctuary to dirt
and bacteria.
The product has been independently tested and the results
demonstrate that Polyflor Mystique PUR inhibits the growth of
MRSA. An effective cleaning regime is, however, the most
important defence against infection. The flooring also achieves
the highest possible “A” rating under the BRE Green Guide to
Specification scheme.
Polyflor Mystique PUR meets the performance requirements of EN
649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, is
certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1
8kw/m˛ and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
