Ceracasa - Tile of Spain member Ceracasa, wins ‘Alfa de Oro’ award for launch of Emotile
Tile of Spain member Ceracasa was one of three companies
awarded the prestigious ‘Alfa de Oro’ (gold award) at this years
CEVISAMA exhibition – the international ceramic tile and
bathroom furnishings fair. The awards, for commitment to
innovation, were judged by the Spanish Ceramic and Glass Society
(SECV).
Ceracasa won its first ‘Alfa de Oro’ award for its innovative
new Emotile system. Brand new ink-jet technology, developed by
Ceracasa, allows porcelain tiles to be personalised by means of
digital decoration and specially adapted glazes. The process has
been developed so that the tile decoration goes right to the
edge of the tile, which means that there is no longer the need
for rectifying. Ceracasa is the first company to achieve this.
The product, suitable for both internal and external use, can be
used on walls and floors, and it is an ideal product for using
on both regular and ventilated facades. It enjoys the same
features as regular porcelain tiles, including high resistance
to impact, breakage and temperature changes, low water
absorption rates and ease of maintenance.
An extensive library of images is available from Ceracasa, but
any image supplied as a JPEG file, including logos, text and
photos, can be used. Because the image is supplied on individual
tiles, there is no limit as to the size of design created.
The following formats are available:
49.1x49.1cm (48x48cm rectified tiles also available)
Finishes: matt, satin, anti-slip
31.6x63.7cm (31x63.2cm rectified tiles also available)

Ceracasa was one of 135 ASCER members – Spanish manufacturers of
ceramic wall and floor tiles – to exhibit at this year’s
CEVISAMA. 2007 saw the 25th anniversary of the fair, which has
developed spectacularly since its launch in 1983, growing from
10,000 square metres of exhibition space to 42,000 square metres
in 2007. Almost 100,000 visitors, including architects, interior
and product designers from around the world attended the show.
The Spanish tile industry continues to grow, and it is currently
the second largest tile manufacturing country in the world after
China. Figures provided by ASCER – the Spanish Ceramic Tile
Manufacturers’ Association – show that production increased by
1% in 2006 to 660million sqm, and exports rose by 8% to €2,000m
(£1,360m) – an increase of 10%. Total sales in the Spanish tile
industry increased by 9% to €4,200m (£2,860m).
