Support services and construction company Carillion is

been elected the prestigious regional chairman’s title at a
nationally recognised civil engineering body.
Peter Samuel, regional director for Carillion Regional Civil
Engineering in the North East was elected to the role of
Chairman of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA)
North East region yesterday (March 20) at an Annual General
Meeting in Durham.
CECA is the representative body for civil engineering
contractors.
Peter brings over 30 years experience of management and
technical roles in the construction industry to the post and has
been vice chairman of CECA for the past 2 years. He is delighted
to have been elected to the two-year chairman post.
Peter said: “These are exciting times for CECA and it’s an
honour to be a part of an organisation which aims to highlight
and promote the positive contribution civil engineering
contractors make within the industry.
“I aim to continue the great work already carried out in the
North East over the previous 2 years by the past Chairman, Basil
Larter, highlighting the importance of health and safety and
training. I also aim to raise the profile of CECA further during
my time as chairman for the North East region”.
Peter is the 7th Chairman of CECA North East which now
represents over 85 civil engineering contractors, large and
small, in all parts of the North East. CECA, formed in November
1996, is the single, wholly representative voice for Britain’s
