Carillion stadium scoops award

Support services and construction company Carillion has scooped a Contract of the Year award for its £32m state-of-the-art sports centre in Doncaster.
The sports complex was a design and construct project, located to the south of Doncaster city centre.
Both Carillion’s regional civil engineering and regional building business units worked on the project and scooped the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Yorkshire & Humberside Region) annual award for Civil Engineering projects greater than £1M.The centre features a 15,000-seat community stadium, three full size, natural grass pitches, eight artificial pitches for five-a-side football, a full size artificial pitch which can be sub-divided into three, seven-a-side pitches, track and field facilities, a 500 seat mini stand and 1,000 car park spaces.
The iconic bowl-shaped stadium is set in landscaped grounds and will provide a number of educational and community uses.
The complex will be home to Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Lakers, Doncaster Belles and Doncaster Athletics Club.
Peter Clay, Managing Director of Carillion Regional Civil Engineering said: “Carillion is delighted to have won the award from the Civil Engineering Contracts Association and to be recognised by our industry peers is excellent.
“We’re really proud of what we achieved at Doncaster .The stadium benefited from the input from both our regional civil engineering and regional building businesses and illustrates the integrated solutions that Carillion can offer to clients whatever the project.”
