CMS Acoustics Solutions - Vertiface Composition delivers an acoustic blessing for St Cuthbert’s Church
CMS Acoustic Solutions has been the bearer of peace for St
Cuthbert’s Church, Preston, after supplying Vertiface
Composition - a retrospectively applied acoustic wall covering
system - to control reverberated sound in the church’s
Northumbria Hall.
The installation of Vertiface Composition can achieve a Noise
Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of up to 0.8, typically reducing
reverberated noise by approximately 80%.
Installed onto the sloping ceiling of the hall, Vertiface
Composition adheres directly onto finished interior wall
surfaces to deliver an aesthetically appealing acoustic
treatment.
Vertiface Composition is made from 100% polyester fibres that
are thermally bonded in a non-woven matrix and laminated to a
high density non-woven polyester backing.
Predominantly featuring hard and reflective surfaces, including
vinyl flooring and a number of glass windows, the new build
church hall required a remedial acoustic product which would
effectively absorb reverberated sound without appearing to be a
corrective measure.
Reverend Chris Halliwell of St Cuthbert’s Church, explains:
“Although the hall looked very nice and provided us with a lot
of space, the noise and reverberation that we were experiencing
was making it difficult for us to realise its full potential.
“CMS Acoustic Solutions were able to recommend a suitable system
which not only attenuated sound, but was also pleasing on the
eye.”
The Vertiface Composition range is available in a fine velour or
rib finish. Typically 10-25mm thick, it is available in both
rolls and tiles.
Simple to install, Vertiface Composition offers a retrospective
and cost effective acoustic solution. Available in 30 colours,
St Cuthbert’s Church selected ‘Myst’ to reflect the colour
scheme of the hall.
David Holder, CMS Acoustic Solutions director, comments: “With
the hall primarily featuring reflective surfaces, the
environment offered no natural sound absorption properties. Even
in areas where noise control has not been sufficiently accounted
for, the installation of a retrospective solution such as
Vertiface Composition means that poor acoustics needn’t be
endured.”
Particularly suited to the education sector, commercial offices,
concert halls, theatres and libraries, Vertiface Composition can
be used in any areas that are affected by reverberated sound.
The Vertiface Composition range is a safe, non toxic, non
irritant, recyclable product that is resistant to moisture and
fading. It also allows the use of drawing pins should its
surface be required as a noticeboard.
