ARDEX R 90 Rake and Trowel PU Screed solves a fishy problem!
Regarded within the flooring industry as the ‘solution
providers’, ARDEX UK were delighted to team up with flooring
contractors Amicitia UK Ltd of South Devon to provide the
perfect resin flooring system for Plymouth Fisheries, the most
modern fishing facility in the South West. The existing cooler
room floor had shown early signs of damage, and in order to
allay the clients’ fears, Amicitia offered a patch test of
various industrial flooring options. These patches were
monitored closely for signs of wear or failure over a period of
10 months, with outstanding performance seen from the ARDEX R 90
P Rake and Trowel Grade Heavy Duty Polyurethane Screed.The
project began with Amicitia removing the existing damaged screed
using rotary percussion chisels and a self-propelled concrete
plane/scabbler, followed by an intensive vacuum clean. After
checking the moisture content of the newly prepared floor, it
was coated with ARDEX R 3 E Solvent Free Epoxy Primer prior to
receipt of ARDEX R 90 P polyurethane screed at a depth of 9mm.
As cleanliness is critical in food processing environments, it
was essential that the specified industrial floor system would
provide high chemical resistance with a seamless and joint free
finish. ARDEX R 90 P Rake and Trowel Grade Heavy Duty
Polyurethane Screed has been innovatively designed to ensure
that it can withstand the most demanding hygiene routines whilst
offering superb durability and ease of maintenance.
The installation of ARDEX R 90 P is more efficient than a
traditional trowel applied heavy duty polyurethane screed as it
has been specially formulated to provide an easily worked system
that can be quickly applied using a pin rake and trowel
technique. The cured system forms a tough, easily cleaned,
pigmented layer from 4mm up to 9mm thick, resulting in a hard
wearing, slip resistant resin flooring system. Available in a
range of colours, ARDEX R 90 P is increasingly specified for
fast track projects in food processing environments, drinks
production, dairies and general heavy duty plant and traffic
areas.
