SureSet Ltd - SureSet to celebrate 10th Anniversary at EWx - External Works Exhibition (Stand no D16)
In 1997 Michael Newton, Kevin Weston and
Peter Watts collectively came to the conclusion there was more
to decorative paving than the traditional finishes then being
offered. This belief became a reality with the launch of SureSet
and the development of a highly innovative surfacing system
exploiting all the advantages provided by a range of natural
rounded and crushed gravels bound throughout with a very strong
resin. The system offered both a highly durable and attractive
finish along with endless design possibilities never before
available.
Since then the raw material range has expanded dramatically and
now includes many recycled products, such as glass, track
ballast and even crushed CD’s. Other new materials are
constantly being added with numerous locally sourced natural
materials being available as well.
Over the ten years the SureSet system has been used for many
high profile projects, such as Sheffield Winter Gardens,
Heathrow Airport, The Mall in Armagh, Longleat, Bluewater
Shopping Centre, Hammersmith’s Apollo Theatre and, recently, the
new London Borough of Hillingdon athletics centre. The
application of SureSet is not restricted to the UK alone with a
number of projects being undertaken in Ireland with work also
having been carried out in Spain, Greece and Holland.
Comments MD, Michael Newton: ‘ our vision for the next ten years
is to strengthen our UK market position even further whilst
continuing to develop our overseas business. The product range
will also be further expanded with the introduction of surface
treatments designed specifically for heavily trafficked areas.
We are also investing in the continued development of a range of
exciting products for the hard landscaping market.’
When formed back in 1997 the company mission statement read as
follows: ‘ it is our aim to be market leaders in resin bound
aggregate surfacing manufacture and installation, delivering
innovation, high quality and total customer satisfaction, whist
providing our employees with a secure future within a safe
environment.’ This remains very much the company’s philosophy
and the three founding directors are still involved to this day.
Ten years ago SureSet and resin bound surfacing were almost
unheard of but now both the company and its specialist finishes
are virtually generic for this type of work, with SureSet more
often than not quoted as preferred supplier. For those who may
still be unfamiliar with either the company or its products a
visit to EWx - External Works Exhibition at the NEC and,
especially, stand number E21 should be time well spent.
