Bradford Channel Limited - Bradford has been listed as one of the UK’s fastest growing property hotspots
UPDATED plans for The Channel will show to investors,
developers and property entrepreneurs just why Bradford has been
listed as one of the UK’s fastest growing property hotspots.
The team behind The Channel will be on hand during MIPIM on
Wednesday, March 14 to discuss the opportunities the scheme will
bring to the city with those interested in becoming part of its
regeneration.
The scheme will be showcased as part of Bradford Centre
Regeneration’s involvement in the event. And the message is that
The Channel is ready for take-off and will shortly go before
Bradford Council with a recommendation to grant planning
permission
A £350m privately funded scheme, The Channel was revised after a
review was commissioned by BCR and carried out by independent
regeneration and design consultancy URBED - to ensure it fits
perfectly into Bradford’s unique cityscape.
The Channel is part one of the four neighbourhoods of the Alsop
masterplan for the city centre and is pivotal to the
regeneration - as it will see the reintroduction of water into
the city centre.
A stunning canal basin will be the focal point along with a
series of water features and aspirational public spaces
fundamental to the masterplan and the wider regeneration of
Bradford.
The landmark scheme, designed by Bradford-based Robinson Design
Group, also features two towers of 16 and 24 storeys as well as
a covered winter garden with a café bar and exhibition areas to
provide a year-round leisure facility.
The Channel is an urban village that includes everything from
trendy apartments to cafés, bars, shops, offices, leisure and
health facilities together with a hotel overlooking the canal
basin that will reflect the spectacular buildings.
Harold Robinson, Bradford Channel director, said: “We are
delighted to be able to showcase the updated scheme to such an
important property audience at MIPIM.
“Bradford has been identified as one of the fastest growing
property hotspots in the UK and this is the ideal forum to
spread the word and get others interested and involved.
“The next step for us will be to gain planning permission and we
expect that to happen in the next few weeks. The Channel will be
the first part of the Alsop masterplan off the blocks and we
look forward to being able to get on with the rather large job
in hand.”
Bradford Channel Limited is a locally-based team, fronted by
Magellan Properties which has a track record in developing in
the area.
Head of the district's regeneration Coun Andrew Mallinson said:
"The Channel is one of the most exciting schemes to be proposed
for Bradford and is really creating a buzz in the district
amongst residents and businesses alike.
"This is further evidence of some of the fantastic regeneration
taking place in Bradford and really complements the other
projects that are taking off here at the moment and those
planned for the future."
Maud Marshall, chief executive of Bradford Centre Regeneration,
said: “This is tremendously positive for the city, all parties
have worked incredibly hard to take forward The Channel urban
village, which will be a sustainable community and play a
significant part in Bradford’s renaissance.
“The ambitious vision set out in the masterplan is now being
translated into an achievable reality. Working together all
parties have successfully achieved a development that is right
for Bradford, which retains its impact and which brings
significant jobs and investment to the city.”
*Bradford Channel Limited representatives will be at Felix
Apartment, 63 Boulevard de la Croisette, Cannes between 3pm and
