3M plc - 3M Films Wow Surface Design Show Visitors
New DI-NOC decoration film and Vikuiti Rear
Projection display technology from 3M inspire architectural
creativity
Bracknell, UK, 22 March 2007 – 3M, the diversified technology
company, showcased product innovations for the architecture,
interior design and specifier community at The Surface Design
Show 2007, 7 – 8 March, the only UK event to focus on surface
solutions in building design.
Highly versatile Vikuiti Rear Projection technology from 3M’s
Optical Systems division made its debut in the modern building
design sector. A 60-inch diagonal Vikuiti Rear Projection Film
display was shown on the stand demonstrating its ability to
present stunning visuals in creative screen shapes and sizes.
The film enables static images, dynamic messaging and video to
be projected directly onto glass partitions and windows making
it an inspiring medium for architects to enliven their interior
or exterior building designs.
Show Presentation Services (SPS), one of the largest event
staging companies in the UK with an office at the Business
Design Centre, has installed a Vikuiti Rear Projection film in
its shop window. Peter 'Art' Lewry, Creative Director of SPS,
said, "Vikuiti Rear Projection film from 3M is something I've
wanted for years – a flexible screen surface that works in the
high and low ambient light levels of exhibitions, brand
experiences, retail environments and museums. With no hot spot,
beautifully bright images, a wide angle of view and the ability
to cut it to any shape, it's a real winner."
The film also attracted attention from the Group Managing
Director of the London Business Design Centre, Michael Stift.
Commenting on its success at the Surface Design Show Michael
said, “It is perfect for exhibitions - no matter if you are an
exhibitor or an organiser. It provides perfect quality of
presentation - even if light intensity changes during the day.
All that is needed is our video-beamer".
3M’s Commercial Graphics division also enjoyed a successful two
days at the show. Its flexible and stylish DI-NOC decoration and
refurbishment film generated a substantial number of quality
leads, impressing stand visitors with its extensive range of
colours, shades and patterns, as well as its faithful
reproduction of wood, stone, metal, leather and many other
materials.
“The show was a real success and provided us with a great
opportunity to present DI-NOC as a superior, aesthetically
appealing surface film for a wide variety of wall, panelling,
floor and refurbishment projects”, said Carole Groombridge,
Senior Marketing Executive, 3M Commercial Graphics division.
